Here's how the paper mache fly pinata turned out!
After I popped the balloon inside, I realized that I probably should have done at least three layers of paper mache because the shell was pretty thin and weak. I filled the thing 2/3 of the way with candy it was pretty heavy, and I ended up needing to reinforce the hanging string with tape. And by that, I basically mean that I wrapped a bunch of tape around the whole thing so its weight wouldn't rip the string right out. It was a classy, classy sight (not pictured). It ended up looking like... it ended up looking like something you'd want to beat with a stick.
Which ended up working out just fine :-)
